Best sites like Binance Exchange? (January 2018)
In January 2018, the Binance exchange has grown to be one of the most popular in the world. Although they offer lots of coins and great performance, at the time of writing this they've disabled signups for new users - so if you don't already have an account you'll have to look elsewhere.
This guide will go through some alternative exchanges to Binance which are allowing signups as of 7th January 2018.
Any links to exchanges in this guide may be affiliates, so we'll earn some money if you signup via them.
For reference, on the 7th January 2018, Binance has these stats:
- $5.8B trade volume in the past 24 hours.
- 232 trading pairs.
HitBTC has been around for a while, appearing in the top 40k websites in the world back in January 2017, currently sitting around the top 2.2k.
HitBTC has had problems with their reputation over 2017, where many users have posted on Reddit that they've lost access to their accounts and are unable to withdraw funds - claiming that HitBTC are doing this intentionally. Although it looks like they have had many technical issues, a lot of these reports seem to be because HitBTC are very strict on security - where if you lose access to the email account linked to your HitBTC account, or lose your 2-factor device and backup code, you may find yourself locked out of HitBTC completely.
As HitBTC offers a range of trading pairs, and has a significant daily trading volume, we felt it should be included here.
Trade volume: $926M in the past 24 hours
Other useful features on HitBTC:
- Offers stop-loss functionality.
- Has a very large list of altcoin trading pairs, currently sitting at 382 - even more than Binance!
BitMEX is another exchange that's been around for a while, in the top 100k websites in the world since January 2017, currently sitting at 12.1k.
This exchange is different to others mentioned in this guide, currently offering fewer trading pairs between 9 coins currently. BitMEX is more useful for experienced traders, offering very high leverage (up to 100x, so be very careful with this), or for trading bots (as it's known for having a good security, and a good API for interacting with them).
So if you're an advanced trader, or working on a bot, this may be a good choice - but if not, one of the other exchanges on this page may be a better choice.
Trade volume: $1B in the past 24 hours (they only seem to give volume stats for BTC/USD trading, so volumes on other pairs are unknown)
